My Robot Nation & Cubify

My Robot Nation is all about the awesome.  Our mission is to give everyone, everywhere a fun and easy way to create – and hold their awesome creations in their hands.  Everyone is creative, and we want everyone to be able to easily play with the coolest technologies that empower that creativity and make it real.  This week we are so proud and thrilled to announce that 3D Systems, the largest and most exciting company in 3D printing and creation, is teaming with us to take that mission even further!

You can read more about this in our press release: HERE.

What does that mean for the Nation?  More possibilities, more features, more new kinds of 3D creations … basically: MORE AWESOME!

As a citizen of My Robot Nation, you’re already able to create your very own robot, unique in all the world, and have us make him real in full color to hold in your hand.  Now the Nation, through Cubify.com, will be giving you access to new things to create and new ways to create them, just as easily, just as fun.

How would you like to be able to print your robot at home, on a desktop 3D printer made so simple you just plug it in and hit “make” to hold him in your hands in minutes?  Check out the Cube!

Would you like to have us make your creation real in metal? In plastic?  We’re on it!

We love us some robots, but there’s more out there to explore – what else do you want to create and make real? Let us know!

With My Robot Nation teaming up with the awesome 3D Systems team, including the personal 3D printer Cube, the 3D creation destination Cubify.com and the incredible artworks of Freedom of Creation, the sky is the limit!

Send us your thoughts and ideas – we’re all ears!

Spring has Sprung!

It’s Spring!  The vernal equinox has passed and all over the hemisphere fresh new things are exploding into the world.  Snow is melting, birds are singing, trees are blossoming and Robots have SPRING FEVER!

Spring is all about creation, and here at My Robot Nation we’re celebrating the season with a whole new batch of fun and silly Spring-themed parts and stamps for you to create with!  Now you can decorate your robot with birds, frogs, butterflies, blossoms, Easter eggs, even a garden gnome!

But like our Holiday and Valentine sets, the Spring theme is only up for a limited time, so get those parts while they’re hot and create your totally unique Spring robot to add to your collection.

We can’t wait to see what you create!

Global Robot Roadtrip!

Thanks to you, Citizens, My Robot Nation is now thousands of robots strong! You’ve created your own uniquely awesome full-color 3D printed robots in dozens of countries all over the world.  Every one of them completely different, reflecting your individual personality, and every one of them eager to explore the world you’ve brought them into…

This week, Team Robot is taking a bunch of our favorite creations on a Robot Roadtrip.  Wherever our robots go, we’ll snap a photo and post it on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ etc, for the Nation to see.  We’ll be posting our pics from up and down California as a start.  When you see them go up, slap a comment or a like on there and shout out the place you think the photo was taken!

We want to see robots traveling all over the world, so join us in making the roadtrip global by sending us pics of YOUR robots in the wild to info@myrobotnation.com.

If we choose your pic to be posted on our Facebook, Google+, Pinterest or Twitter, we’ll send you a discount code for 20% off your next robot!

And it’s not just pics of robots we’re eager for – in every robot package we send you, you’ll find a couple of exclusive My Robot Nation stickers with the logo you’ve come to know and love.  We want to know where you stick ‘em! They’re there so you can use them to spread the word by slapping them on something you own for everyone to see!  Send us a pic of a My Robot Nation sticker on something of yours (no defacing other peoples’ property please!) and if we post it, we’ll send you that 20% discount code too!

So get out there and REPRESENT people!  We can’t wait to see what the Nation is up to!

Medal of Awesome

Every day in the Robot Factory we pull the most amazing creations out of the 3D printer – every one of them utterly unique, born of the infinite imagination of its creator.  Some are simple, some complex, some fierce, funny, cute, creepy or serious. Some stun us with their creativity and artistry, or the cunning way its creator used combinations of parts in a way we never expected.  Among all of these amazing creations are the occasional ones that simply take our breath away: the Truly Awesome.

Starting today, we’re going to celebrate those truly amazing robots with you, and with their creators, by bestowing the My Robot Nation Medal of Awesome on the coolest robots we see coming through the factory.

If your robot receives this honor, we’ll send you this coveted medal for you to keep and proudly display.

3D Printing’s Coolest Stories

2011 was a breakout year for 3D printing.  So many advancements, announcements and cool innovations!  Here are a few of our favorites!

The First 3D Printed Airplane

3D Printed Airplane

Engineers from the University of Southhampton in the UK designed and printed this electric-powered airplane, capable of traveling at 100 MPH, in just 1 week. They used laser sintering, a kind of 3D printing that uses lasers to fuse plastic powder together into a 3-dimensional object.  This rapid prototyping approach let them take the plane from concept to flight in a fraction of the time and cost of traditional manufacturing. The plane performed perfectly on its 10-minute maiden flight over a field not far from Stonehenge.
