“WILL YOU MARRY ME?”

These four simple words surrounding a heart on a 3D printed robot’s chest caused quite a stir on the Robot Factory floor this holidays!  We wanted to share this awesome holiday love story of personal creation with you too.

The Robot Factory is like Santa’s Workshop, lots of ultra cool creations carefully crafted by the world’s top robot artists – you!  What a delight it is to see the individual creations pass through the production cycles.  Not only does every robot get special attention as it is made, but each robot also gets a personal introduction to Michelle – our Head of Robot Production at the Factory.  Michelle personally checks out each robot, and when a special robot appears, bells are rung and the Factory team assembles to cheer on the new creation!  Such was the case for this robot.  Wow – a Robot that was designed to carry a marriage proposal!

The whole factory was abuzz wondering.  Was it a joke?  A random bit of playfulness?  Or a bonafide proposal of marriage coming some lucky person’s way for the holidays?  Team Robot had to find out!  We contacted the robot’s clever creator, My Robot Nation Citizen Jennifer R., and she let us in on the surprise – her robot creation was in fact going to deliver a real proposal of marriage to Jennifer’s boyfriend, Tom D., on Christmas Day!

Jennifer wanted to come up with a really special, cute, and cool way to pop the question to the love of her life, so she found her own utterly unique way to propose:  by creating a custom 3D printed robot at My Robot Nation, whose sole purpose for existing was to carry her message of love:  “Will You Marry Me?”

Team Robot was blown away – we’re always amazed at the creativity we see in people’s custom robots in the Nation, but it never occurred to us that in helping people make their own uniquely personal objects with 3D printing that we’d be enabling THIS kind of life-changing expression.  The human heart and imagination, it turns out, will use every possible outlet to express love and hope.  We were honored, awed and a little choked up…

We made sure that Jennifer’s robot arrived in time for the holidays, and it went straight under the Christmas tree where it waited patiently to be the final present Tom opened on Christmas Day.

And…??? AND…???  OH THE ANTICIPATION!

We were absolutely delighted to get Jennifer’s note that with “teary eyes, happiness and kisses” Tom said YES!

Robots are great believers in love.  We swoon at the joy and delight that we see in all the Nation’s robot creations, particularly this one.
